Autonomous Robot
This group project, completed by a team of four for ME 2110: Creative Decisions and Design, involved designing an autonomous robot to compete in a Kung Fu Panda-themed competition. The robot was tasked with collecting baozi, defeating Tai Lung, protecting bunny villagers, and retrieving the Dragon Scroll, all within a 40-second time frame.
The design featured a telescoping arm for lifting Po, sweeper arms for baozi collection, and a drivetrain for precision navigation. Built using MDF and 3D-printed PLA components, the robot prioritized cost-efficiency and functionality, staying under a $120 budget. The final competition highlighted both successes, such as defeating Tai Lung and vertical lifting precision, and challenges, including mechanical adjustments to the baozi collection system and software improvements.
This project demonstrated skills in mechanical design, fabrication, and teamwork under constraints, providing insights for refining autonomous systems in competitive environments.
